Excitement on the 4th

Now this is really not what you want to see in your yard.

As I am washing my garage windows, I hear my neighbor yell "Fire". To a person that has lived through a house fire, those words send chills up my spine.

I turn around and their playhouse is on fire. I run around the house and get Kevin. He and the neighbor's kids grab buckets to get water from their pool to the playhouse and also hoses.

The fire department comes pretty quick considering we live in the country. And we were surprised to see what fire department showed up. Thought it would be a different one. Who knew?

It turns out their son was playing with sparklers in the playhouse earlier in the morning. The playhouse still had some straw in it. The sparkler just smoldered until it burst into flames. The flames didn't show up until late afternoon. Literally, hours later.
The message--sparklers can cause fires. After you are done with them, put the in a metal container with water in it. Let them sit there for a while. It's worth the extra effort.

We think so too

Parents at the hospital have to wear tags explaining who they are. This is a security item for the hospital. We also had swipe cards to get into the wing Nathan was in.
While Kevin was getting his new sticker for today, the wonderfully sweet woman gave Brynn one. Kevin had one that said Parent/Guardian. Brynn's said Princess.
Yeah, we thinks so too.

Waiting and Waiting...

We had to be at the hospital at 12:15. Nate wasn't taken back for his surgery until 3:15. It was such a long afternoon. H obviously had no idea the peach robe and pants meant. This is one of the few pictures that he is actually smiling his smile and it happens in the pre-op room!
Nate had 3 surgeries. The ENT came out and said the surgery was smooth. The urologist was also happy with his part of the surgery. It took the cleft specialist about 2 more hours to come out. We were so happy when he said that Nate had just an average cleft. Everything worked the way it is supposed to. We were gald to be average.
Nate spent 2 nights and got to come home Thursday morning. Had he not had the fever, he may have been able to come home Wednesday night. The doctors finally released him and Kevin raced out of there just in case they changed their minds.
I was glad to have the entire family back under one roof.

Surgery Day Tomorrow

Tomorrow is Nate's palate surgery. We have to be at the hospital at 12:15 and his surgery is scheduled for 1 PM. It is going to be at least 4 hours.

We appreciate every prayer that you can send his way. He is going to have a lot of pain and we are going to have to manage it.

My poor little man.

Puddle Jumpin'

Is there anything more fun than jumping in puddles? They put on some old clothes and shoes (ok, Brynn's in an old bathing suit) and jumped away until the puddles were gone. So much fun.
